    みんな大スキ、「Lovin' You」でおなじみのミニー・リパートンさんです。
    そんなミニーのオリジナルをといえば、このデビュー・アルバム「Perfect Angel」しかないでしょう。
    このジャケットで黒人のミニーが、溶けかけた「白い」アイスクリームを持って微笑んでいる姿を見て、ある種の政治的な意味を探る方もいらっしゃいますが、内容は実にポップ。
    スティーヴィー・ワンダー作のアルバム・タイトル曲は今でいうフリー・ソウルっぽい手触りがあり、グルーヴィーで超カッコいいです。
    そして大傑作「Lovin' You」は黒人音楽のみならず、ポップスの名曲としていつまでも語り継がれるでしょう。
    もうこの2曲で充分。
    このあとも彼女はアルバムを出し続けますが、惜しくも79年にガンの為に死去、ミニーは伝説の人となります。
    ソウル・ファンからやいやい言われる事の多いマライア・キャリーもミニーからの系譜ということで考えると、彼女がやっていることというのは至極まっとうであるといえるでしょう。
