いまや新人から若手まで、どんなシンガーでもキッチリとした仕事をこなすスーパー・プロデューサー、ジャム＆ルイスですが、80年代の彼らに関しては、やはりジャネット・ジャクソン以前/以後に分けられると思われます。~
その「以前」サイドの女性シンガー代表格がシェレールであることは間違いない事実でしょう。~
当時のジャム＆ルイスといえば、Tabuレーベルの所属シンガー達を一手に引き受けていた印象があり、とはいえどもS.O.S.バンドとアレクサンダー・オニール、そしてシェレールの三組だけという感じでしたが、どれをとっても80年代前半の手クセ全開のジャム＆ルイス節で、ひょっとしたらシンセのパッチというか、メモリーを「あのいつもの」音しか持ってなかったんじゃないかというくらい（笑）。~

2年後の86年にデュラン・デュラン主催のプロジェクト、パワー・ステーションで一発当てて80年代を見事に泳ぎきったロバート・パーマーがこれをカヴァーして本家以上の大ヒットにしました。~
ちうか自分もこれしか知らない（笑）。~
ロバート・パーマーってデビュー当初は割りとニュー・オーリーンズとかあの辺のシブい路線を行ってた気がしたけど、こういうブラコンもさらっとカヴァーしちゃうんだよなあ。~

しかしあの時代、なぜ、シェレールではなく、ジャネットだったのか。~
単に時代がほんの少しずれてしまっただけだったのかという気もしますが、やっぱジャクソン家には何か特別なものがあるんだろうな〜。~
ま、「Control」ではジャム＆ルイスもかなり様変わりというか、ポップを意識したサウンドになってますが。~
