初期アトランティック・レコードを代表するグループ、コースターズの集大成を。
コースターズはリーバー＆ストーラーが手がけたグループで、元々はロビンズと名乗っていました。
そのロビンズ時代の録音は(1)〜(9)で。
特に(1)はスライ＆ザ・ファミリー・ストーンの大傑作「There's A Riot Goin' On」のタイトルの元になったことでも有名です。
個人的にはノヴェルティな(9)が大好き。
とぼけたコーラスとサックスがいい味だしてます。
コースターズに改名してからの作品としては、(20)(21)(25)あたりが有名なんじゃないかな。
特に、後にトランプスが大傑作「The Legendary Zing Album」で(21)を取り上げた事は有名です。
バンドを見てみると、キング・カーティスをサックスに迎えたりしていて、サウンドにも目配りしています。
