初期アトランティック・レコードを代表するグループ、コースターズの集大成を。~
コースターズはリーバー＆ストーラーが手がけたグループで、元々はロビンズと名乗っていました。~
そのロビンズ時代の録音は(1)〜(9)で。~
特に(1)はスライ＆ザ・ファミリー・ストーンの大傑作「There's A Riot Goin' On」のタイトルの元になったことでも有名です。~
個人的にはノヴェルティな(9)が大好き。~
とぼけたコーラスとサックスがいい味だしてます。~
コースターズに改名してからの作品としては、(20)(21)(25)あたりが有名なんじゃないかな。~
特に、後にトランプスが大傑作「The Legendary Zing Album」で(21)を取り上げた事は有名です。~
バンドを見てみると、キング・カーティスをサックスに迎えたりしていて、サウンドにも目配りしています。 ~
なんやかんや言いながらも意外と後進に影響を与えている、そんなグループだと思います。
